If your students choose to read manuals, catalogs or almanacs instead of books or magazines, be sure to include those materials in your literacy curriculum and in your classroom library.

“Signs” of Effective Collaboration

I just spent a few days with teachers in Colorado. The workshop was on collaboration and co-teaching and we talked a lot about conducting effective meetings. For instance, we discussed having clear starting and ending times, following an agenda, assigning time limits to agenda items, starting meetings with the follow-up from the previous meeting, and minimizing interruptions.
